Polishing brass is a good thing to do during the dark evenings before the solstice. So is setting up the hope that the light will return. So many candles await, and such darkness envelops.
That looks so cheery and beautiful! I love your fireplace and everything you've set out with it warms my heart. Thanks for posting this pic! You made me smile this morning before my pills even started to work. Hee hee.
And Ari is sitting on my lap purring, he likes it too. I think he prefers pictures to text online.
The Aerie has to be one of the prettiest places I have lived. I will miss the fireplace and all the windows when it is time to move on to the next way station, but I can look forward to something equally quirky and charming. I'd just like to have a bit of private garden next time. Maybe a hot tub and a tiny ritual garden.
Ooh, that would be neat. We have a garden, and it's not little, but no fireplace or wood stove. Kitten was thinking of putting one in someday in the kitchen, where we could still gather round it sometimes but the kids wouldn't be doing so unsupervised. And you never know, you might luck and get both!
Oooh
