 Happiness is NOW.

Happiness is being in the moment. This one. Right now.

The sun is shining.

I am happy about some food and healthy lifestyle changes that I am working on. More raw foods. Much less dairy. Fewer empty starches. Foregoing the second glass of wine at dinner, because then I will completely savor the first.

Of course there are books. When do I ever undertake anything new without buying a couple of books.

Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People by Jennifer Cornbleet. This is a gentle introduction to eating raw foods. She doesn't require you to rush out and buy a juicer and a dehydrator to make these recipes.

Rainbow Green Life-Food Cuisine by Gabriel Cousens, M.D. This book isn't easy, but it has a lot of recipes. Juicer and dehydrator required for many recipes here.

I would be more inclined to buy a dehydrator than a juicer. I'm not a juice person. I much prefer soup.

Happiness is feeling appreciated. Long story that I won't go into here, but the penny finally dropped for a dear friend of mine. A few words are all it takes to make me feel that what I do is noticed.

Happiness is awakening refreshed from a good sleep, little brown cat still curled up in a tidy circle on the puff. I could watch her sleep for hours at a time. It's so peaceful.

Alas, the day calls me.

From the dear Ms. Seaivy:

1. Post about something that made you happy today even if it's just a small thing.
2. Do this everyday for eight days without fail.
3. Tag eight of your friends to do the same.

Day 1:
September always makes me happy. It's my favorite time of year, neither summer nor autumn, but a delicious blend of the two.

Consider yourself tagged, but only if you want to be.

I skipped a day or so in the happiness project, but I'm planning to post eight times, not necessarily in a row. That's the way my life works. Some days are long and others are not.

Yesterday was a long day. I was up at 5am because I couldn't get back to sleep, and I had a busy day in the city, ending with a delightful dinner with my GlitterSister™ and a very late train home. She was curious how I have the stamina to get through my crazy life. I don't really know the answer to that.  Habit? Genes? Some of both? All the Grey women are tough old birds, living long and living well.  Why should it be otherwise?

I'm happy to be alive and to have this crazy busy life.

I'm happy that I don't have to go out in the rain today. There are some major benefits in working from home and this is one of them. I love rainy days from the inside of my snug Aerie.

I still have a couple of hours of work to get done today, and then I can spin some yarn and continue my meditations in the heart of the spiral. I have come to a place of peace and am acutely aware that peace, like light, is something you carry with you. If there's one thing I have learned as a witch, it is that the Goddess will guide you, but you have to move your own feet and make your own way through life. Pack sensibly because the road is long and uneven.

Remember that bag I wove to be a symbolic container for the things one carries through life? I never chose to post a photograph, because the inside of the bag, the SPACE it encompasses, is more important than the design of the fabric.  That bag. That's where I keep the light and the peace so that they will be with me when I need them.

What do you carry through your life?

...finishing the Little Wappingers Creek yarn I designed, and having it come out the way I remembered it.  Sky and trees reflecting in the dark water, and yellow leaves floating lazily by.

from the dear [profile] writtenoutloud
The rules are that for 8 days you have to post something that made you happy that day.
Tag 8 people to do the same.

Consider yourself tagged.

QIVIUT -- that's what makes me happy today.
