Today I am grateful for the silence of the Aerie.

It is my sanctuary.

I can't tell you how many times I have been walking around in noisy, bustling Manhattan, headphones stuck firmly in my ears, not listening to anything on the iPod. Just creating silence.

I can write if there's some wordless chillout music playing, but not when my words have to compete with the lyrics. I don't like conversations where everyone is talking at once.

What about you? Are you more grateful for sound or silence?

Definitely silence... And I'm the same, I can't write if I have to compete with other words.

I'm a creature of the "modern world" -not ipod but radio. It babbles on or plays classical most of the day thanks to NPR (I hate commercials!).
Most of the time I can work at the computer while it burbbles and wiffles. But late at night I want the solitude of silence.

Sound and silence, sound without words inspire, silence allows visual dreams to flow and grow.
