I was feeling really homesick today. Can a person be homesick for their next home rather than their current one?  I guess so, because that's the way it felt.  I threw a few things into my day-pack and took off for a local trail where two geocaches were hidden.  I never really got away from civilization. I could hear, and sometimes see, a distant highway.

Nonetheless, it was great to sit on a rock by the creek and eat my lunch. It was very cool to come across three swans on the reservoir. Swans aren't always friendly, but I was able to sweet talk them into coming closer to shore. I just told them how beautiful they were, and kept talking to them. They really were magnificent.

I am grateful that I have been able to find small patches of woods where I need them. I spent two hours out there, relaxing and enjoying the woods.  I found both of the geocaches, and left notes of appreciation in their log books.
This was a perfect day of solitude. Thank you, Goddess. I was in the woods. I had no obligations to anyone. I spoke to no one but the swans.  Did I mention that it was raining?  It was mostly a soft mist, and I had on my long waterproof mac, so all was well.

Love it

I love solitude and I try to find it where I can. The woods always offer me freedom and quietness. :)

This reminds me ~ I must go & find my swans... it's been weeks...

Taking time out to be genuinely solitary in the wild places ~ I don't do it as often as I need & it is such a simple pleasure.
